Seminar 2. Critical Race Theory: Teaching What They Don’t Want You to Know
Seminar Zoom Link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85674508983?pwd=b1Q4ckFzNG8zbmJJc2xUeVY0b1FvQT09

Instructor: Pastor Calloway Bain, Mt. Olive - Horn Lake, MS
Course Description:
Critical Race Theory, sometimes referred to by its initials “CRT,” is a way of understanding race and racism in America. Instead of focusing on individual racists and their beliefs, it focuses on larger systems and structures in American life.  Instead of seeing slavery and racism as something that ended with the Civil War or the Civil Rights Movement, it demands that we assess the continuing legacy of anti-Black racism in America today. Critical Race Theory was first developed by a group of Black, Hispanic, Asian, and White law professors in the 1980s.  Even though they were law professors, training lawyers, they all came to the belief that dismantling racism in American life required more than changes in law alone - as important as law is. They looked back at all the important legal changes of the 1960s - changes brave people had fought and died for - and asked, “Why aren’t things getting better?”.

Seminar 3. Keeping Sunday School Fresh in a Hybrid Environment

This study will help Sunday school teachers prepare their lessons to help students understand what the text is saying and how it is applicable to daily living.
